FOOTPATH OFFICER - TONY WELLS


Brief overview of a Group Footpath Officer’s Work

  • To further the Ramblers Association’s aims to secure free access along Public Rights Of Way (PROW).

  • To see PROW on foot recorded, maintained, and kept free of obstruction in accordance with the law.

  • To liaise with other local organisations and user groups with interest in PROW to promote common views and aims. (eg. Attend PROW liaison meetings and local access forums)

  • To report problems and make complaints.

  • To receive circulars and material produced by Central Office.

  • To receive copies of planning applications from local Councils which may affect PROW (eg public path creation, diversions, and extinguishments)

  • To receive footpath problem reports.

  • To visit sites (with other Committee members) in connection with any of the above, implement Ramblers’Association guidelines, and/or respond to as necessary. (eg. write to Councils, Highway Authorities, members of public etc.)
